Transfixed by the faintest whisper
Of a sound of sight or sense
As he creeps and steps from whence he flew
Amongst the falling frozen dew
A gasp of hallowed breath
As his crown profoundly quivers
Whilst the rush of dazing shivers blew
Amongst the falling frozen dew
So lost between the willows
In shades of stone and hail
Too mythical to leave a trail so new
Amongst the falling frozen dew
Fading through the chilling air
No scurried flap or cringing call
To show his walk of ice at all was true
Amongst the falling frozen dew
In steadfast he reclined
And floated as the wind sufficed
It was only I and the lake of ice that knew
Of how the solemn heron flew
Amongst the fallen frozen dew
